Her husband, who was an employee of the New York Central railroad, was killed in a rail accident on February 26, 1911. An only son of the couple met with accidental death while with the Armed Forces in [Delhamps, Mobile, Alabama] Alabama on January 5, 1917.
Mrs. Brooks became a resident of the Thanksgiving Home in 1944. She was a member of the Cooperstown Methodist church and of its WSCS. Several cousins survive her, including Miss Mary Ferguson of Oneonta. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Tillapaugh Funeral Home here, with the Rev. Theodore J. Stone, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Center cemetery in the spring." [The Freeman's Journal (Cooperstown, NY), Jan. 14, 1953, Page 6]
